Red Factor Canary Seed is a diet specially formulated to maintain bright feather colour in red canaries.
Red Factor Canaries were developed as a hybrid between Red Siskin Finch and the domestic Yellow Canary. They obtain their colouration from red carotenoid pigments in their diet, particularly Canthaxanthin. If there are insufficient carotenoids in the blood stream at the time of feather growth then the red colouration tends to fade. This happens when feeding a standard canary seed mix due to the absence of red carotenoids in seed. Dietary supplementation with canthaxanthin significantly enhances the colour of Red Factor Canaries, especially if done in the lead up to and during feather moult.
- Keeps Canaries Red: Seed mix is fortified with the red carotenoid pigment canthaxanthin.
- Unique Infusion Process: Canthaxnthin is absorbed into the kernel of the seed, meaning it is readily consumed by the bird and available during feather growth.
- Simple & Effective: Providing canthaxanthin in the seed is more effective than dosing drinking water, as it is non-messy, reduces waste and ensures optimum intake.
